Mammography Technologist

Summary: Using radiological (X-ray) imaging equipment and standards, the Imaging Technologist - Mammography prepares and performs procedures and tests used to acquire and analyze patient diagnostic data under close to moderate supervision. By interviewing and preparing patients with an in-depth understanding of the equipment and procedures, this role ensures effective, safe use of this equipment and drives optimal care outcomes. As an experienced imaging technologist, this team member will work under minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment in the performance of their role. Responsibilities: Responsibilities And Scope Prepares and performs radiological (X-ray) imaging of the breast (mammography). Reads and comprehends imaging order, engaging with physician when order is unclear, complex or warrants deeper review. Selects appropriate scanning protocols and imaging parameters using knowledge of human anatomy. Interviews patients to understand risk factors that may warrant a more in-depth examination for safety. Guides patients, some distressed, through their examination, applying subject matter expertise and cultural competency to explain the exam. Sets expectations and calms patient for effective imaging. Uploads imaging results into Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Records information into Electronic Medical Recordkeeping (EMR) system. Precepts entry-level staff and orients new colleagues as assigned. Collaborates to plan the workday and patient flow with colleagues. PARDEE Other information: Required Graduate of an accredited program in Radiological Science Five (5) years of experience working in a clinical imaging role, three (3) years of which must be specifically in mammography.
