The School of Education at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz is pleased to announce a hire of a three-year lecturer position in the Department of Teaching & Learning. The position is as follows: Lecturer for Early Childhood / Childhood Education (ongoing, 3-year, renewable contract) SUNY New Paltz is located in the scenic Hudson Valley at the base of the Shawangunk Mountains, 90 minutes north of New York City. We have a student body drawing from rural, suburban, and urban areas of approximately 8,000 students (residential and commuter). The School of Education and faculty are steadfast in our commitment to building our school's capacity to offer teacher education organized around issues of equity, social justice, and anti-racism as well as research-based frameworks of teaching and learning. The School of Education is home to the Hudson Valley Writing Project (a local site of the National Writing Project), multiple university-school partnerships, the annual Multicultural Education Conference, and the Mid-Hudson Teacher Center, all of which offer teacher candidates and faculty ongoing opportunities to learn from and with regional PK-16 teacher leaders. Duties of the role include:
- Teach within the Early Childhood / Childhood Education undergraduate and graduate programs.
- These include undergraduate dual certification B-6, undergraduate early childhood education B-2 non-certification, an MST program leading to initial NY State teacher certification program.
- Work with students to build the strong, foundational EC/CE pedagogical and clinical skills and knowledge necessary to support the diverse developmental and learning needs of young children and their families
- Contribute to curriculum development that incorporates scholarship at the intersections of early childhood / childhood education, equity, justice, and inclusion
Required:
- Master's in Early Childhood / Childhood Education
- At least three years of prior experience teaching in public and/or private schools in grades PK-6.
- Hold or be eligible to hold state licensure in early childhood / childhood education.
