PREVENTION SPECIALIST Full Time Cincinnati, OH, US 2 days ago Requisition ID: 1002 Salary Range: $48,000.00 To $52,000.00 Annually SUMMARY The Prevention Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based prevention programs aimed at reducing the risk of substance abuse, behavioral health issues, and other high-risk behaviors in the community. This role involves direct outreach, education, collaboration with schools and community groups, and data collection for program evaluation. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and facilitate substance abuse prevention and health promotion programs for youth, families, schools, and community organizations. Conduct community outreach and build relationships with stakeholders, including schools, health providers, and civic groups. Deliver presentations and workshops using evidence-based prevention curricula. Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for grant compliance and program evaluation. Maintain accurate records of all prevention activities and complete reports in a timely manner. Participate in coalition meetings, community events, and awareness campaigns. Monitor trends in substance use and emerging prevention strategies. Advocate for prevention services and healthy behaviors within the community. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Sitting: 6+ hours Walking: 1–3 hours Standing: 1–3 hours Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: 1–3 hours; able to bend, stoop, and climb Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: able to lift, pull, and reach 10–125 lbs Must have full use of hands to perform tasks QUALIFICATIONS Must be at least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED Preferred: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Education, or a related field (Bachelor’s preferred). Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) credential preferred or ability to obtain certification within 12–24 months of hire. Minimum 1–2 years of experience in prevention, health education, or related field. Knowledge of substance abuse prevention theory, risk and protective factors, and behavioral health. COMPETENCIES Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry/reporting software. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
