Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required License: Active compact license required Certifications: BLS FHM NRP AWHONN Intermediate ACLS (preferred) Must-Have: Epic experience required Previous charge experience preferred Description: This position involves caring for patients during labor and delivery. Candidates must be able to manage labor and preterm labor cases. The unit consists of eight labor rooms and four triage rooms. Nurses are expected to circulate for OB-GYN, post-operative, and pre-operative care. The role includes attending all deliveries and high-risk deliveries. Nurses will assist with GYN surgeries, couplet care, and low-risk antepartum care. Special procedures include administration of blood and blood products, cardioversion, and defibrillation. Nurses will utilize cooling and warming blankets, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps. They will administer medications such as heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate. The staffing ratio will be between 1:1 and 1:3. Flexibility to float to post-partum and NICU based on skill set is required. Candidates must have experience with the administration of blood and blood products, anticoagulation therapy, and managing antenatal complications. The ability to perform sterile vaginal examinations and manage pain assessment and management is essential. Monthly facility births range from 200 to 300. Candidates should be comfortable maintaining central lines, triaging obstetrical patients, and using intrauterine pressure catheters. All deliveries and associated procedures must be performed with attention to infection control and safety standards. References covering one year of experience within the last three years are required prior to start.
