Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments, utilizing culturally informed techniques to understand each patient's unique experiences and establish personalized treatment plans.
• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions that are tailored to the individual needs of clients, taking into account their cultural backgrounds and personal circumstances.
• Facilitate a range of therapy sessions, including individual, family, and group therapy, to address diverse mental health issues while promoting clients' resilience and well-being.
• Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other health professionals to ensure that clients receive holistic and integrated care that meets all of their mental health needs.
• Provide crisis intervention strategies and support during mental health emergencies, skillfully guiding clients towards safety and stability.
• Educate clients and their families on mental health conditions, available treatment options, and community resources to empower them in their recovery journey.
• Maintain meticulous and confidential client records in accordance with legal and ethical guidelines, ensuring adherence to industry standards in documentation.
• Actively engage in team meetings, case conferences, and cultural competency training sessions to promote a collaborative work environment and enhance professional development.
• Stay updated on the latest research, best practices, and cultural considerations in mental health therapy to provide the highest level of care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

At Therapeutic Horizon, the counselor will work with a varied patient population that includes individuals from various ethnic backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community, and immigrant families. This diverse client base requires an understanding of specific cultural sensitivities and the ability to tailor interventions that align with their values and experiences, ultimately improving treatment adherence and patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid license as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of New Jersey.
• Demonstrated understanding of mental health disorders along with evidence-based treatment modalities.
• Proficient experience in providing individual and group therapy, employing culturally responsive techniques.
• Strong crisis intervention skills, enabling effective support during challenging scenarios.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to establish rapport with a diverse client population.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and basic computer applications for client documentation.
• A commitment to ethical practice, including maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to coordinated care plans.

• Experience working with culturally diverse populations, particularly in a telehealth format.
• Familiarity with community resources available for mental health support and referral.

Compensation and Benefits
