Staff Scientist - Oncology

Position Summary Scheduled Hours: 40. Position: Staff Scientist – open in the Jaebok Choi Lab, Department of Medicine, Division of Oncology. Focus: Transplant Immunology with an emphasis on T‑cell biology in mouse models of diseases such as graft‑vs‑host disease (GvHD), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE). The lab uses unbiased genome‑wide CRISPR/Cas9 guide RNA library screens and whole kinome analyses to identify novel therapeutic targets (e.g., VLDLR, GAS6/TAM, PKN1) that may separate inflammatory disease from beneficial immune responses, including graft‑vs‑leukemia/tumor effects, anti‑tumor and anti‑infection responses. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Design research protocols and develop procedures for collection, verification, and management of data. Assist in the planning, execution, and oversight of research projects, including experiment design, data analysis, and documentation of results. Prepare grant applications and reporting documents. Perform complex statistical analyses and write interpretative reports. Verify data accuracy and recommend actions based on analysis. Document research topics; prepare and submit manuscripts for publication or presentation. Resolve practical problems with equipment or test subjects and suggest technical or procedural improvements. Conduct literature searches related to ongoing research projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions Laboratory environment with potential biological and chemical hazards. Physical ability to wear protective equipment and provide standard care to research animals. Required Qualifications Education: Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Salary Range Grade R10: $48,000.00 - $86,900.00 per annum. Individual rates are based on qualifications, performance, and equity considerations.
