To achieve this culture, IES employs a highly-trained, highly-skilled, dedicated and passionate work force that collectively operates, enhances, and strategically drives both our Retail and Terminal Logistics business units./ppUnder the general supervision of the Safety/Security/Emergency Management Manager (SSEMM), the Safety Specialist (SS) position provides general to complex level support in the design, planning and execution of safety, security, and emergency response systems for IES. Incumbent is expected to have proficient knowledge of federal and state safety and health compliance regulations and is responsible for assembling written updates to applicable guidelines, policies, programs and initiatives that support the safety and security of IES personnel, assets and operations./ppDesired competencies include: accuracy, attention to detail, proficiency in managing relationships and information as it relates to safety, security and emergency management activities. The ideal candidate must be able to establish priorities under tight deadlines and have a proven track record as a motivated, self-starter who can work on multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in public speaking and classroom training is required. Prior relevant experience in the energy and or retail or similar industries is strongly preferred./ppEssential Functions/pulliSafety/liulliSupports the SSEMM with driving the safety culture to align with the four Bs Believe, Behave, Belong, Become, and ultimately, towards an incident-free workplace./liliSupport the safety management systems such as safe work practices, contractor safety, training, assessments, and continuous improvement processes. Additional processes that are supported include management of change, process hazards reviews, incident investigations./liliManages radio communication system, gas detection equipment, and safety data sheet database./liliAssists with industrial hygiene monitoring./li/ulliEmergency Management/liulliAssists with managing the emergency response systems, including plans, programs, and policies. This includes development, implementation, training, assessment, and continuous improvement of system elements./liliBuilds relationships with municipal fire departments and other company partners./liliSupports the SSEMM with spill drill coordination./liliHelps coordinate emergency response teams./li/ulliSecurity/liulliWorks with the SSEMM to ensure compliance with the Maritime Transportation Security Act requirements./li/ulliTeamwork/liulliWorks effectively with coworkers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive, positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions; and respecting the diversity of the IES workforce in actions, words, and deeds./li/ulliOther Duties/liulliPerforms other duties consistent with the scope of the position./liliMaintains commitment to a high standard of compliance with all IES policies and procedures and reports actual and potential concerns as appropriate to management to ensure IES core value of K?n??ole, doing the right thing./liliMust be able to draft guidelines, processes and procedures and other written documents./liliAs assigned, lead SSEM special projects across business units of IES./li/ul/ulpMinimum Qualifications/pulliEducation and Experience: Three to Five or more years of relevant experience. High school diploma. Proven experience understanding and applying safety policies and processes, preferably within an industrial and or retail environment. Proven experience in multi-tasking of work projects. Knowledge of OSHA standards and Safe Work Practices. Experience in developing, delivering, and supporting training programs. Associates or Bachelors degree from an accredited college in relevant field, preferred./liliSkills: Ability to uphold to strict ethical standards: integrity, objectivity, and confidentiality of sensitive information. Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills, including editing and proofreading. Must be proficient in power point. Ability to maintain automated and manual record keeping systems. Must pass pre-employment background check including, medical, drug and job-related physical abilities testing as required. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within sixty days of hire. This is a safety sensitive position and random drug testing is required. The hiring salary range for this position is $101,000 to $134,000.
