Job SummaryThe American Board of Family Medicine, Inc. (ABFM) is the third largest medical specialty board in the United States. Founded in 1969, it is a voluntary, not-for-profit, private organization whose purposes include: (1) Improving the quality of medical care available to the public; (2) Establishing and maintaining standards of excellence in the specialty of Family Medicine; (3) Improving the standards of medical education for training in Family Medicine and (4) Determining by evaluation the fitness of specialists in Family Medicine who apply for and hold certificates.The mission of the ABFM is to promote excellence in medical care through educational and scientific initiatives. Through certification and maintenance of certification programs the ABFM pursues its mission by establishing, maintaining, and measuring high standards of excellence in the specialty of Family Medicine.Position SummaryThe ABFM Human Resources Manager is responsible for organizing and managing defined core Human Resource functions, such as talent acquisition, staff engagement, performance management, compensation and benefits, compliance, and organizational staff development. This role works closely with leadership to align human resources strategies with organizational goals and promote a positive, high-performing workplace culture for ABFM.Key ResponsibilitiesPrimary DutiesPayroll & Compensation AdministrationOversee payroll processing, tax filings, and complianceEnsure accurate compensation structures and salary administrationManage benefit deductions and employer contributionsConduct compensation analysis and workforce cost modelingEnsure compliance with wage and hour lawsHuman Resources LeadershipOrganize employee standards and procedures, using existing human resource systemsOversee recruitment, hiring processes, onboarding and offboarding staffMaintain personnel manual and human resource policiesEnsure compliance with employment laws and regulatory requirementsManage staff benefits administration and vendor relationshipsOversee performance management processesSupport supervisors with staff relations mattersMaintain personnel records and confidential documentationCoordinate training and professional development initiativesRisk Management & ComplianceMaintain appropriate internal controls in payroll and HR functionsOversee workers’ compensation, annual workers’ compensation audit and unemployment claimsMonitor employment compliance and reporting requirementsQualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferredExperience5–10 years of human resource experience5–10 years of human resource experienceSHRM Certification preferredTechnical SkillsHRIS systems and payroll softwareMicrosoft Office SuiteApplicant Tracking SystemsCore CompetenciesStrong communication skills and interpersonal skillsStrategic thinking and problem-solving skillsHigh integrity and confidentialityAttention to detail and organizationAbility to partner with leadershipCompensationSalary commensurate with experience.
