Looking for a certified Navajo Language and Culture Specialist.
CULTURAL/COMMUNITY SPECIALST
(Navajo Language/Culture Specialist)
SCHOOL YEAR
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Cultural Specialist will instruct and support individuals or small groups of students in subject areas and provide needed skills to let students perform well on their exams. To teach students study habits and to prepare them for college.
QUALIFICATION:
- Must be able to work with high school age
- Must be able to communicate effectively with high school age
- To provide professional instruction using practical teaching
- One or more years of experience as an Educator in a classroom
- Must have NM State Teachers License in field of Navajo Language/Culture.
- Must attend trainings provided by KRCI,
- Must make recommendations to Head Residential Advisor to believe in structured study hall environment.
INDIAN PREFERENCE: Preferential consideration for employment will be given to persons of documented Navajo, American Indian or Alaskan Native Tribal membership who meet the qualifications above, in accordance with the requirements of P.L. 100-297 and the Navajo Nation Tribal Code.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Facilitate the Cultural Language and Activity program at Kinteel Residential Campus.
- Supports and efficiently carries out responsibilities in accordance with Kinteel Residential Campus, Inc. Policies and Procedures.

- Provide 180 minutes of Dine Culture and language instruction and activities weekly
- Promote the use of proper Navajo Language and Culture among Staff members
- Plan and facilitate Cultural Activities and Field trips for students such as the Gathering of Nations
- Administer the Navajo Language assessment to all students annually
- Prepare Kinteel students to take the Bilingual Fluency Exam
- Monitor and facilitate students to apply for the Chief Manuelito scholarship and other financial aid
- Report data to Leadership monthly
- Facilitate monthly Parent Nights and Quarterly Cultural Showcases
- Facilitate the Kinteel Pageant annually
- Facilitate cultural outreach to families (Ke)
Sponsor an active Dine Club to include singing, dancing and drum groups
