Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: - 24 months of current Stepdown, Progressive Care, or Medical Surgical experience in a hospital or medical center setting. - Neuro/neurology care experience. - Ortho/orthopedic care experience. - Trauma care experience is highly preferred. - Experience using lift equipment, telemetry, chest tubes, and airvo. - Experience administering heparin PCAs is required. - Experience administering 3% sodium is preferred. License: - Must possess a valid nursing license. Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. - NIHSS certification is required and can be obtained during onboarding. Must-Have: - Active nursing license at the time of submission. - Skills checklist specific to Medical Surgical or Medical Surgical/Telemetry. - Professional reference or performance evaluation from within the last 24 months. - No first-time travelers; must have completed at least one travel contract within the previous 12 months. Description: Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit. The position involves caring for patients post TNK, with orthopedic and neurosurgery needs. Candidates should have experience working in a fast-paced hospital environment. The nurse will float across various medical-surgical units as needed. Ratios are typically 1:5-6. The bed size is 25. The candidate should be familiar with administering drips and titrations such as heparin gtts and PCAs. Experience with telemetry and chest tubes is important. The nurse will be expected to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed. A thorough understanding of neuro and orthopedic care is essential. Strong communication and teamwork skills are a must. The ability to adapt to different clinical situations and work with diverse patient needs is crucial.
