Nursing Assistant - Rehabilitation and Extended Care - Integrated Clinical Community

Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Provide direct care for veterans with acute, chronic, and rehabilitation needs under RN supervision.
• Observe and document subtle changes in patient condition, reporting deviations promptly.
• Assist with nursing procedures such as tracheostomy care, catheterization, colostomy care, and skin care.
• Monitor and document patient intake and output, referring deviations to healthcare staff.
• Participate in treatment planning meetings and provide patient information to the care team.
• Promote patient independence and respect through individualized treatment and group activities.
• Recognize and react to emergent situations, initiating basic life support as needed.
• Utilize equipment to promote veteran self-care and participate in unit-based activities.

Work Schedule: Intermittent. Intermittent employment is defined as non-fulltime employment in which employees serve under an excepted or competitive service appointment without a regularly scheduled tour of duty. A position with an intermittent work schedule is sporadic and unpredictable so that a tour of duty cannot be regularly scheduled in advance.
