Description of Work This position is an entry level Meteorologist position located in the Division of Air Quality’s Central Office in Raleigh and will work in the areas of air quality compliance and permitting. This position requires strong computer skills, excellent customer relation skills, independent judgment, decision-making ability, and adaptability to policy and regulatory changes. Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs atmospheric dispersion modeling and modeling review to evaluate the compliance status with respect to state and federal air regulations, the permitting requirements, and the emission limitations.
  • Provide support to the Permitting Section and other Division and Departmental groups by evaluating expected air quality impacts from a variety of emission sources.
  • Writes technical reports, general correspondence, and other technical documents, and serves as an advisor to air quality staff, industry representatives, state and federal agencies, and the general public on issues related to air quality and compliance. Requires effective communication, both verbally and in written form, of technical information. Oral presentations to Division and Departmental staff and during public hearings are required on occasion.
  • Meeting with applicants and their consultants to facilitate modeling reviews.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
