Help Students Reach Their Potential TX-STAR Speech Language Services collaborates with school districts across Texas to provide specialized support for students with a variety of learning needs. We are currently seeking Dyslexia Therapists/Teachers for school-based assignments in the Houston area. This opportunity is ideal for educators who are dedicated to literacy development and want to help students with dyslexia gain confidence through systematic, research-supported reading instruction. Your Role and Responsibilities As a Dyslexia Therapist/Teacher, you will deliver focused intervention services that help students strengthen foundational reading, spelling, and language abilities. In this role, you will: Provide dyslexia intervention using the Read by Design instructional program Lead individual and small-group sessions focused on decoding, fluency, comprehension, spelling, and overall reading development Track student performance and use progress data to guide instructional decisions Prepare complete and accurate records of services, attendance, and student growth Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, administrators, families, and other support professionals Participate in ARD, IEP, and Section 504 meetings and offer relevant updates and recommendations Deliver instruction and required accommodations in accordance with student plans and district procedures Qualifications for This Position Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related discipline Dyslexia Therapist/Teacher credential or current teaching certification Hands-on experience implementing the Read by Design program Understanding of dyslexia identification, structured literacy, and evidence-based reading intervention practices Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and time-management skills Ability to work independently while managing assigned students, schedules, and documentation Work Setting and Scheduling Options Campus-based opportunities throughout the Houston area Assignments supporting students across multiple grade levels Flexible placement options, including: Full-time assignments Part-time schedules Placement matched to your availability, qualifications, and current district requirements What You Can Expect from TX-STAR Competitive compensation reflecting your experience and professional credentials Flexible scheduling opportunities Consistent bi-weekly pay Access to medical, dental, and vision insurance plans A supportive, people-centered organizational culture Ongoing assistance from knowledgeable program staff Employee referral incentive opportunities Resources for continued professional development and career growth Efficient administrative processes and dedicated operational support Learn More About TX-STAR Since 2010, TX-STAR Speech Language Services has worked with school districts throughout Texas to connect students and campuses with qualified special education professionals.
