This role supports licensed nurses, physicians, and advanced practice providers by delivering essential clinical assistance within a fast-paced outpatient setting.General SummaryThe Medical Assistant operates within their scope to assist with patient care duties delegated by clinical staff. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively while maintaining excellent customer service and critical thinking skills.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAdhere to established safety protocols including infection control and safe patient handling.Escort patients, obtain vital signs and EKGs, verify medications and allergies, and document medical histories and visit reasons accurately and promptly.Manage phone communications by routing messages and assisting with patient inquiries.Serve as a liaison between patients and providers, including communicating test results and assisting with follow-up calls.Assist with medication renewals, authorizations, and administration (oral, IM, SQ) as ordered.Perform point-of-care lab testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis.Schedule appointments, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries as directed by providers.Complete necessary paperwork, prior authorizations, and referrals efficiently.Maintain supply inventory and ensure exam areas are clean and well-stocked.Educate patients on electronic health record portals and assist with enrollment.Support orientation and training of new medical assistants.Demonstrate accountability, teamwork, adaptability, and maintain punctuality and attendance standards.EducationCompletion of an accredited Medical Assistant or Medical Specialist program is required, or equivalent experience. A high school diploma is mandatory.ExperienceAt least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant or related medical specialist is preferred but not required. Experience in a clinical setting is advantageous.Certification and LicensesRegistered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credentials from an accredited organization such as AMT are preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.Mental and Physical RequirementsThis position requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Exposure to infectious diseases and occasional challenging interactions may occur.
