Quality Specialist

We are currently looking for a Quality Specialist to join our team in Tecumseh, MI. This role is essential for maintaining high product standards and driving continuous improvement throughout our manufacturing operations. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including engineering, production, and external suppliers, to resolve quality issues and ensure we meet automotive industry standards. Core Responsibilities Manage and resolve all internal and external quality concerns by implementing permanent corrective actions to prevent future issues. Develop necessary training materials and facilitate quality‑related workshops for the team. Address customer rejections by investigating product defects and recommending process or material improvements to enhance overall quality. Collaborate with customers and engineering departments to provide guidance on advanced quality programs. Perform thorough investigations into non‑conformances and suggest corrective measures to eliminate reoccurrence. Represent the company in customer meetings and translate their specific requirements into our internal plant procedures. Improve manufacturing process capability by performing detailed analysis of SPC data. Review GD&T, SC, and KPC requirements with customers on new programs to proactively address quality concerns. Coordinate and prepare PPAP submission packages while maintaining FMEA, process flow diagrams, and control plans. Evaluate fixture designs to ensure parts are correctly located and meet variable data and attribute check expectations. Support APQP and PPAP requirements by conducting dimensional checks, capability studies, and Gauge R&R audits. Analyze CMM layout reports to recommend necessary adjustments for successful PPAP submissions. Verify product and process capability during launch phases through coordinated studies. Deliver training for new programs, including the creation of quality guides and control plans. Assist in the design of experiments and DVP&R processes when required. Evaluate and approve supplier PPAP packages, ensuring timely follow‑up and re‑submission. Help improve supplier performance by developing new partners and monitoring their progress against improvement plans. Oversee the operations and activities of the Corporate Testing Laboratory. Drive high‑quality customer service at shipping locations and serve as the primary liaison for new product launches. Execute internal audits across all company automotive facilities. Manage the analysis, reporting, and follow‑up for warranty returns and high‑mile‑age vehicle reviews. Complete additional tasks as requested by management. Help maintain a safe and organized workspace by ensuring 5S principles are consistently followed to support health and safety standards. Qualifications Experience Three to five years of professional quality experience within the manufacturing or automotive sectors. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of Automotive Quality Systems, APQP, PPAP, and customer‑specific requirements. Possess a working knowledge of GD&T, Significant Characteristics, and various testing and inspection techniques. Certification as a Quality Engineer (CQE) is considered an asset. Skills Communicate effectively through both written and verbal channels. Utilize 8D methodology to solve complex problems and drive better outcomes. Apply strong analytical skills to make informed, effective decisions. Interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings with accuracy. Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, specifically Word, Excel, and Access. Design and conduct impactful technical training sessions. Manage multiple priorities through strong organizational habits. Work collaboratively within a team to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Education A college degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Metallurgical Engineering.
