Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

This position contributes to the fulfillment of the organization's vision and mission. It requires exercising appropriate nursing judgment based on knowledge, skills, and understanding in nursing situations. A key responsibility is participation in planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care. The role involves participation in a quality assurance program to provide optimal patient care. The position reports to the Client Nursing Supervisor. The role includes performing nursing care and services for patients. Responsibilities include observing and recording signs and symptoms. Administering sterile treatments, assisting with examinations, and using special equipment are essential duties. The nurse will prepare, administer, and document oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications. Documentation is done using an electronic health system, including observing insertion sites and rates of flow for IVs. There will be participation as a member of the nursing team in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care. The nurse assists physicians and other medical staff as required and is responsible for total patient care in specific settings. Maintaining cleanliness of rooms and equipment after use or discharge is vital. The nurse will observe, record, and report physical and mental conditions of patients. Selected procedures and therapeutic treatments will be performed as per demonstrated competence. The role includes providing care for obstetrical patients through stages of labor, delivery, and postpartum. It involves participation in nursing care plans according to physician's instructions. The nurse promotes patient cooperation and assists in teaching self-care to patients. There is an expectation of studying and evaluating trends in nursing practices for adaptability. The individual must assume responsibility for the accuracy of procedures and maintenance of high nursing care standards. Maintaining accurate and complete records is required. Recording and transcribing patient orders from physicians is part of the duties. The nurse will assist in the training and orientation of new employees. Participation in Quality Assurance committees as needed is expected. The nurse should attend in-service programs, meetings, and educational workshops. A commitment to meet ethical, moral, and legal obligations of nursing is essential. Maintaining and promoting good health practices is required. Adhering to the organization's procedures and policies is necessary. All duties will be performed within the scope of licensure. The nurse must maintain a current professional license in accordance with state law. Providing leadership in medical concerns in the absence of a physician is part of the role. Patient confidentiality must be maintained in compliance with regulations. Understanding compliance program requirements is expected. Participation in education and training programs regarding compliance is required. Demonstrating respectful interactions with patients, visitors, and staff is crucial. Willingness to accept new responsibilities and cooperate with changes is necessary. Respect, integrity, compassion, and excellence are expected in all interactions. The working conditions are indoor, smoke-free, and involve contact with biohazardous materials and communicable diseases.
