As a Staff Engineer (EIT) on our Water Resources team , you'll play a key role in delivering roadway drainage and transportation-related stormwater projects while gaining experience across a diverse portfolio of water resources work, including flood mitigation, watershed planning, water quality, and environmental permitting.

In this role, you'll work alongside experienced engineers on local and national transportation and municipal projects, collaborating across our Water Resources, Transportation, and Wastewater teams. Because we're a close-knit team, you'll receive direct mentorship, meaningful project responsibilities, and exposure to the full project lifecycle—from planning and hydraulic modeling through design and construction.

What You'll Do

• Support the planning, analysis, and design of roadway drainage systems for transportation projects, including storm sewers, culverts, detention facilities, and related drainage infrastructure
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses and modeling to evaluate drainage systems and develop resilient infrastructure solutions
• Prepare drainage reports, calculations, and design documentation for roadway and municipal infrastructure projects
• Contribute to stormwater management, flood mitigation, urban flooding, and water quality improvement projects
• Support environmental permitting efforts and regulatory compliance activities
• Assist with flood studies, stream modeling, watershed planning, and stormwater retrofit projects
• Support grant-funded projects and planning initiatives that help communities implement resilient infrastructure solutions
• Collaborate closely with Water Resources, Transportation, and Wastewater teams to develop integrated solutions
• Conduct field investigations and support construction-phase activities
• Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
• 2–4 years of civil engineering experience, preferably with roadway drainage, stormwater, or water resources projects
• Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as XPSWMM, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, or similar tools
• Experience with ArcGIS Pro, Civil 3D, OpenRoads Designer Drainage , or related engineering software is preferred
• Interest in roadway drainage design, stormwater management, flood mitigation, and transportation infrastructure
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
• Eagerness to learn, grow technically, and take on increasing project responsibilities

Compensation Range

$79,200.00 - 98,500.00

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in accordance with the Minnesota Omnibus Labor and Industry Policy Bill Article 7 Section 2 amendment to the Equal Pay Act of 2003. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, skills, prior work experience, competencies, and geographic work location. The total annual compensation package may consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate, after a qualifying period, in our performance and discretionary incentive bonus program(s).
