Junior Litigation Assistant

The Junior Litigation Assistant provides administrative and litigation support to the Firm's Litigation Department while developing the knowledge and skills necessary to advance within the legal support profession. Working under the guidance of experienced Litigation Assistants and attorneys, this position assists with document preparation, court filings, case management, and trial support while ensuring accuracy, organization, and exceptional client service.

Essential Job Duties, include but are not limited to:

• Serve as an "overflow" legal assistant by providing administrative and litigation support to attorneys and Litigation Assistants, as assigned.
• Prepare "shells" of simple routine legal documents including form pleadings, basic motions, declarations, complaints, discovery requests and responses, under the supervision and tutelage of an experienced Litigation Assistant
• E-file routine court documents (and paper-file when required) under the supervision and tutelage of an experienced Litigation Assistant
• Identify and submit legal documents for docketing, court and case deadlines using firm software under the supervision and tutelage of an experienced Litigation Assistant
• Assist attorneys with organizing, maintaining, and saving case-related documents, correspondence, mail, and electronic files
• Assist and support the Litigation Clerks/Project Assistants with their tasks such as binder preparation, attorney time entry etc.
• Assist in preparation of matrices, charts, and spreadsheets as needed
• Proofread legal documents and correspondence for grammar, formatting, completeness, and accuracy
• Assist with arbitration and trial preparation under the supervision and tutelage of experienced Litigation Assistants and attorneys
• Coordinate travel arrangements for attorneys
• Maintain accurate time records for billable tasks
• Learn and effectively utilize the Firm's document management, case management, and other technology platforms, including Microsoft Office and NetDocuments.
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements :

• Undergraduate degree preferred
• ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate is a plus
• Minimum of one year previous experience working in litigation as a legal assistant and/or junior paralegal preferred
• Basic familiarity with California state court e-filing procedures
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent proofreading, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and a willingness to learn
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also working independently
• Professional demeanor when interacting with attorneys, clients, court personnel, and colleagues
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle time-sensitive matters
• Flexibility to work overtime when business needs require
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Adobe and PowerPoint) and NetDocs

Physical Demand :

Lifting up to 15 pounds; kneeling, bending sometimes required. Typing/sitting at desk for long durations at a time.

The salary wage range that we expect to pay for this position is from $55,000 - $65,000 and represents our good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of base salary at the time of posting. The actual salary offered may vary based on experience, qualifications or other relevant factors.
