Registered Nurse (RN) Position

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is located within the Papillion - CHI Midlands Hospital Campus at 11111 South 84th Street. VA Community Living Centers are a place where Veterans receive extended hospital care and short-term rehabilitation levels of care which includes help with activities of daily living, skilled nursing, and dementia care. This CLC has a total of 33-beds, providing services to eligible Veterans needing 30-90 days of skilled rehabilitation, or dementia/ neurocognitive support. The mission of a Community Living Center is to restore each Veteran to his or her highest level of well-being, to prevent declines in health, and to provide comfort at the end of life.

The Community Living Center Registered Nurse duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components.
• Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
• Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
• Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Performs complex procedures to include catheterizations, venipuncture, central line dressing changes, wound care, heparin or saline flushes in peripheral lines and PICC lines.
• Responds to patient emergencies, initiating life saving measures while waiting for help to arrive. Ability to provide Basic Life Support if needed.

Preferred Experience:

• Long-term care and/or rehabilitation experience

Work Schedule: Day and Night shifts available to include rotating weekends and holidays. Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) - work 72 hours per pay period (12-hour shifts only); once initial orientation is completed. The only TOD for NWI CLC P option is 0630 - 19 and 1830 - 07.

• Night shift: 1830-0700
