Clinical Athletic Trainer -Ambulatory Surgical Center - $5,000 Signing Bonus

A $5,000 signing bonus is available to newly hired Athletic Trainers who begin employment with OSUP between April 1, 2026 and October 1, 2026. This incentive is limited to external candidates; internal transfers from the affiliated health system will not be eligible. Responsibilities Under general supervision of a physician or physician assistant, oversee and implement the prevention, assessment, management, treatment, rehabilitation and counseling of athletic injuries and conditions within scope of practice. Review, obtain and order diagnostic studies under the direction of the physician. Obtain a thorough patient history including injury details, past medical/surgical history, allergy verification, medication reconciliation. Perform a comprehensive physical examination including strength or manual muscle testing, range of motion testing, sensation testing, palpation, functional testing, and special tests. Construct and provide rehabilitation education to patients, including range of motion, stretching, strengthening, posture and body mechanics, and post‑op exercises specific to individual/procedure protocols. Provide continual education to patients and families independently. Assist physicians with in‑office procedures by prepping patients and assisting with procedures. Generate orders for advanced imaging, physician referrals and physical therapy referrals. Remove post‑operative dressings, sutures and staples while providing aseptic wound care. Remove and apply upper and lower extremity splints or casts. Properly measure, fit and educate on the use of durable medical equipment, including gait training and assistive devices. Teach and demonstrate walker, crutch, stair, and bathroom mobility for pre‑ and post‑operative patients. Triage patient messages including general/surgical questions, medication requests, prior‑authorizations, and post‑operative phone calls. Coordinate or directly perform scheduling or rescheduling of appointments, consultations, testing and procedures. Obtain accurate patient vitals including height, weight, temperature and blood pressure. Complete all required documentation of patient care in accordance with OSUWMC standards and guidelines. Collect and process point‑of‑care tests, venipuncture and other lab specimens. Perform appropriate physical exam on immediate post‑operative patients for mobility training. Document post‑operative patient care one day post‑op according to ASC/OSC guidelines. Opportunity to assist with surgery and become a certified Orthopedic Technologist through the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists Inc. Qualifications Licensure by the State of Ohio Occupational, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Training Board. Certification by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers. Current BLS Certification. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited Athletic Training Education Program. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with athletic populations and/or experience in an orthopedic/sports medicine physician clinic. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team‑oriented environment. Pay Range USD $24.05 – USD $35.76 per hour.
