Job Overview We are hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our handheld medical devices business in Cincinnati, OH. The role will work a Flex/Hybrid schedule with 3 days per week on-site and may involve up to 20% travel. Relocation assistance is available to qualified candidates. Responsibilities Implement and coordinate engineering changes to address electrical hardware and software aspects of Ethicon’s capital systems and handheld devices. Lead and support field root‑cause investigations and resolutions, including gap analysis, production troubleshooting, and process/product validation. Develop strong partnerships with multidisciplinary leaders and suppliers to drive alignment, prioritize, and complete joint projects. Ensure projects comply with regulatory requirements (GMP, ISO, MDR) and Ethicon policy and procedure requirements. Guarantee the safety and critical performance of commercial products in accordance with applicable electrical safety standards for medical devices. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred). Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical engineering within R&D. Proficiency in translating high-level customer needs into technical requirements and analyzing trade‑offs and business impacts. Experience with embedded electrical design and strong electrical analysis skills. Knowledge of root‑cause analysis, verification/validation testing, and creating test protocols. Demonstrated ability to debug and test electrical systems using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers. Results‑driven with the ability to work across organizational boundaries. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience leading projects and managing risks. Experience within a medical device or other highly regulated industry. Familiarity with IEC 60601 and other medical device electrical safety standards (preferred). Experience designing prototypes, simulating, and rapidly testing them (preferred). Experience solving technical manufacturing issues (preferred). Knowledge of programming languages such as LabVIEW, C, C++, Python (preferred). Experience applying Agile methodology in daily activities (preferred). Benefits Base salary range: $92,000 – $148,350.00. Retirement plans: company‑consolidated pension and 401(k) savings plan. Paid time off: 120 vacation hours per year, 40 sick hours per year (48 for Colorado residents, 56 for Washington residents). Additional floating holidays and family leave as specified. Parental leave: up to 480 hours within one year of the birth, adoption, or foster care of a child. Bereavement leave: 240 hours for an immediate family member.
