Residential Supervisor

Summary The Residential Supervisor provides leadership and oversight to assist the Manager. This position also performs regular duties, works with the respective program manager and Director of Clinical Services to assist in overseeing the residents’ care, programming, activities and other related services to meet their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Job Duties & Responsibilities Supervisory duties (under direction of manager/director) to include: Assist with oversight of staff and maintaining staffing levels to the grid. Ensure all shifts are staffed and can accommodate capacity of program. Participate in recruitment activities including posting positions, hiring and onboarding new staff. Complete introductory and annual evaluations. Ensure patients attend group sessions and that documentation is entered into medical records; oversee and ensure patient rounds are recorded. Provide required Residential Care Specialist training on rounding. Ensure medication protocols are followed and action plans are created when a Qstatim is entered. Provide direct cognitive behavioral and other therapeutic services according to clinical standards of care. Support clinical staff in leading staffing orientation for assessment, treatment and discharge planning of patients receiving CBT services. Maintain consistent service delivery for CBT patients per established standards. Develop program materials with manager/director (handouts, fact sheets, manuals). Participate in weekly supervision sessions with providers and communicate with manager or director on ongoing clinical issues. Offer ongoing training, support and coaching to staff less familiar with CBT model. Participate in program research activities and document clinical supervision. Assure documentation of treatment plans, hierarchies and psychosocial information in the medical record. Conduct periodic record audits for proper documentation of CBT patients. Communication duties: Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings. Communicate with aftercare providers, utilization review department and clinical supervisors to ensure continuity of care and payment facilitation. Maintain strong communication lines related to cognitive behavioral programming. Manage safety of the environment: Maintain updated knowledge of safety policies, emergency and evacuation plans. Complete daily safety rounds covering board, sanitation, RCC/CBRF codes, door locks and alarms. Complete maintenance and Qstatim documentation for injuries. Demonstrate appropriate response procedures and keep safety and confidentiality of records. Monitor resident safety, evaluate behaviors, intervene appropriately and report to staff and medical team. Daily census and scheduling support: Identify and work through barriers to maximum census, review scheduled discharges and admissions. Participate in on‑call rotation and support payroll needs (PTO approval, timecard adjustments). Provide training, education, coaching and feedback to staff; conduct audits and 90‑day evaluations. Engage in disciplinary processes and provide immediate feedback on service delivery. Staff development and meetings: Attend mandatory staff meetings, in‑services and floor team meetings; maintain records on Staff Development Record. Participate in quality improvement projects and performance improvement initiatives. Interact with residents and families to provide customer service and reflect program philosophy. Administrative and programmatic duties: Complete documentation related to residents (evacuation assessment, flow sheets, treatment progress notes). Monitor supplies, order as necessary, and obtain signatures from program manager/director. Assist residents to groups, activities, appointments; monitor attendance and arrange transportation as needed. Plan and facilitate education, leisure and family weekend programming; conduct one‑on‑one sessions. Promote department goals, demonstrate goal achievement and maintain policies and procedures. Compliance and professional development: Maintain understanding of Joint Commission, HIPAA, EMTALA, 42CFR and other regulatory agency compliance. Participate in in‑services, seminars, committees and team projects; demonstrate punctuality and effective communication. Apply ROS model, contribute to improvement projects and follow professional standards. Other functions: Provide clinical supervision as identified by state and federal regulations. Facilitate professionalism, maintain professional attire and image, and comply with hospital policies. Physical/Mental Demands Work effectively with a patient population, independently and as a team member. Apply knowledge of therapeutic modality; possess integrity, initiative and willingness to learn. Be dependable, flexible, efficient, patient and dedicated. Use leadership and assertiveness skills; perform work both inside and outside residential facility. Lifting up to thirty (30) pounds; walking two (2) miles without difficulty. Verbal and hearing abilities required for interaction; numerical ability for record maintenance. Plan, control and direct aspects of employee relations; require logical thinking and discretion for decision making. Education/Training Requirements Bachelor’s degree required (equivalent relevant experience may be considered). Master’s degree in social or behavioral science preferred. One of the following qualifications: Three (3) years in public or private institutional child/adult care for the type of population served and one year of supervisory experience or completion of a supervisory skill development course. Forty (40) hours of documented in‑service training involving supervisory skill development and personnel management. American Heart Association CPR certification within thirty (30) days of hire; bi‑annual re‑certification. Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within sixty (60) days of hire/transfer; annual re‑certification. Valid Wisconsin driver’s license. Successfully pass caregiver background check.
