Job Title: Medical Surgical Client Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Active RN license required Certifications: BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Ability to work night shifts, including weekends and holidays Description: Position/Specialty: Medical Surgical Client RN Will work 3x12 hour night shifts from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. Weekend requirement includes 4-5 weekend shifts per 4 week period and holiday rotation. Patient ratios are 1:5. On-call requirement is not applicable. Travelers may need to float between like units to meet facility needs. First-time travelers accepted. BLS certification is required. ACLS and NIHSS certifications are preferred. The unit is a 23-bed inpatient general neurology and medical stroke unit for adult and geriatric patients. All patient rooms are private, including a designated reverse air flow room. Nine rooms are hard-wired for continuous epilepsy monitoring, unique to this unit. The floor manages medical stroke patients and general neurology patients. Conditions treated include Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, seizures, and medically managed strokes. This unit supports a Comprehensive Spine Center and Comprehensive Epilepsy Center. Travelers should be aware of the potential for assignment to emergency response teams during hurricane season. Hurricane season runs from June through November, with peak activity in August and September.
