Sr VMWare Engineer (WY)

Overview For this role, we are seeking a Sr VMware Engineer with on prem data center experience and experience with bare metal deployments. This role requires the candidate to be onsite 5 days a week in Cheyenne, Wyoming. If the candidate is relocating, they should be onsite on day 1. Senior VMware Engineer Requirements Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical degree; six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience 4 or more years of professional experience in VMware services and tools Direct experience in bare-metal deployments of VMware infrastructure Direct experience with building and administering multiple VMware products across multiple remote locations and data centers 2 or more years experience in programming using one or more of the following: Java, C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, or advanced Shell scripting Preferred additional experience Hands on experience Infrastructure-As-Code, automating deployments, cluster management, and systems security within a CI/CD Pipeline Experience with VMware on Cloud (VMC) on AWS Experience with VMWARE infrastructure in a very large enterprise environment Experience in Kubernetes regarding containers / Microservices principles Disciplined practice of producing, maintaining, and versioning system documentation Primary Responsibilities Act in a technical leadership capacity: Mentor junior engineers and new team members, and apply technical expertise to challenging programming and design problems Develop highly available, fault-tolerant VMware infrastructure designs and solutions Establishes standards and guidelines for the design & development, tuning, deployment and maintenance of VMware infrastructure, including backups, upgrade, and automation processes Proactively identify and recommend updates to software or architecture as necessary before reaching capacity limitations Develop automated responses to incidents so that manual intervention is not necessary Champion system metrics (MTBF, MTTR, etc.) and convey them to decision makers on a regular basis Manage priority of issues and tickets and participate in rotating an on-call schedule with other members of the team, including weekends #J-18808-Ljbffr Cedent
