The OT plans and modifies treatment programs for adult patients with clinical competency, as applicable.ResponsibilitiesGeneral FunctionsInterprets physician orders and requests interpretation as necessaryAdministers and interprets tests and measurements of patientsReviews patient charts and progress prior to treatment and modifies the treatment plan accordinglyDevelops functional goals based on patient and/or family expectationsInstructs and involves patient, family, social worker, nursing staff and discharge planner in patient's progress and discharge plans, participating in appropriate meetings.Ensures all documentation is legible, appropriate, concise and timely.Uses appropriate modalities and procedures correctly demonstrating knowledge of indications and contraindicationsAssures appropriate equipment performance prior to each useOrganizes schedule to reflect patient priorities, needs of other staff, and the department needs and responsibilitiesProvides in-service to staffProvides clinical education for OT studentsUtilizes supportive personnel and supervises administration of treatment plansInforms supervisor of incidents, accidents, equipment failure or unusual physician or patient problems immediately, initiating appropriate action.Maintains a working knowledge of routine clerical proceduresUtilizes resources efficiently and effectivelyMaintains safe environmentAddresses patient population–specific needsParticipates in Performance Improvement activitiesQualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational TherapyPREFERRED EDUCATION: Master's or Doctorate Degree in Occupational TherapyMINIMUM EXPERIENCE: No previous work experience necessary. After completion of 3 full years/beginning of 4th year may be eligible for Occupational Therapist Level II.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Clinical experience in variety of settings, Hand Therapy, Ergonomics, as well as marketing and business familiarity. Spanish ProficiencyREQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: NEW GRADUATES: Possession of current Texas State license prior to orientation.
