Responsibilities Work under limited direction of other mechanical engineers to research, design, analyze, and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for Lockheed Martin Space products. Functionally own specific mechanical systems and delegate tasks. Participate in issue resolution and develop solutions to technical problems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical content and timely closure. Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support product build and testing activities. Generate and release drawings using CAD software. Be a member of multiple integrated product teams, reciprocally interacting with other engineers, manufacturing personnel, suppliers, and customers. Represent the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards. Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to supervise the build and test of the hardware. Perform stress analysis using basic hand calculations and finite element modeling. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s of science degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education. Experience with mechanical design development and integration, especially in the area of spacecraft mechanisms. Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling and drafting with knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T). Fundamental understanding of other engineering disciplines including stress, dynamics, thermal analysis, production, electronics, systems engineering, etc. US Citizenship required. Desired Skills Previous experience as a Certified Principle Engineer (CPE), or equivalent. Creo and CAD data management (EPDM) experience. Flight hardware experience. Familiarity with Lockheed Martin specifications, tools, and procedures. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation. Experience with test methods, planning and execution.
