Business Development Manager

Business Development Manager – Business Jet and Defense TurbinePrimary responsibility is sales and product support for business and defense turbine products, and additional products and customers as may be assigned. The business jet and defense turbine business is comprised of Champion's portfolio of industry-leading power ignition products & technologies for business jet, helicopter, military aircraft, space and industrial turbine engines. Establish, develop, and execute a new business strategy in the market and take necessary actions to retain and grow the existing base business. Extensive market analysis, especially in domestic and foreign military, is required with the ability to summarize and communicate market data to executive levels. Grow market share for assigned products and meet or exceed yearly new business goals. Achieve maximum profitability and account penetration within the assigned territory by effectively selling the value of the company's products and/or services. Prioritize and manage the customer base to achieve growth goals.Work closely with the sales management team to develop & execute the new business plan and to retain and grow existing base businessTrack new business opportunities and their potential for turbine productsAccount penetration at aftermarket accounts and in some cases engine/airframe OEM's. These targets are not limited though, market opportunities are the focusA major function of the role is utilizing and driving the distributor sales force to sell Champion's productsBe a technical expert on the productsMaintain an understanding of commercial airline operators and turbine engine MRO shops and what it takes to support those operatorsStrategize effective ways to win competitive proposals while selling valueManage the relationships of multiple distributors and end usersEmails, telephone calls and in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customersProvide technical support to customersAttend trade shows, customer events, and conferencesAnalyze the territory's potential and determine the value of existing customers and their value to the organizationPlan and organize personal travel schedule via a Time and Territory Management toolPrepare proposals in compliance with customer requirements and with Company pricing guidelines, coordinating with internal personnel as necessaryProvide written trip reports and a monthly summary due by the second day of each new fiscal monthKeep abreast of competitive activities and market sharesOperate within budgetBachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering required3-5 years of comparable sales experience requiredTravel is expected 50-75% of the timeMust be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environmentLocated within the Liberty, SC office is mandatoryExcellent communication, presentation, writing, and analytical skillsMS Office suite capability, particularly a solid understanding of Excel spreadsheetsLeadership abilitiesUnderstanding of the details for creating real valueGood business sense/judgmentCritical thinking and problem solvingAction orientedStrong communication skills (verbal and written)Open and honest communicationTake ownership for their performance and for their team's performanceResults orientedManage and prioritize multiple programs to maximize value creationThe employee is expected to adhere to all company policies.NOTE: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
