Description YMCA CAPE COD SCHOOL AGE PROGRAM LOCATION: MULLEN HALL - FALMOUTH, MA DO YOU ENJOY WORKING WITH KIDS! THE BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM IS A SAFE AND FUN PLACE FOR CHILDREN TO SPEND THERE EARLY MORNINGS & AFTERNOON'S PLAYING GAMES, DOING ACTIVITIES, HELPING WITH HOMEWORK, AND OFFERS TIME TO SPEND WITH FRIENDS.

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY AND ACCOUNTABILITY: Leads a team, processes, and/or projects. LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES: Collaboration: Creates sustainable relationships within the Y and with other organizations in service to the community Communication & Influence: Listens and expresses self effectively and in a way that engages, inspires, and builds commitment to the Y's cause Program/Project Management: Ensures program or project goals are met and intended impact occurs Developing Self & Others: Develops self and supports others (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, program participants), both formally and informally, to achieve their highest potential MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: Minimum age of 21, High School/GED required with some college preferred. One year previous work experience in a similar program, previous experience coordinating a similar program preferred. Previous experience in teaching, recreation, childcare, or physical education, as appropriate, and previous supervisory experience is preferred, in addition to previous experience with diverse populations. Certifications, Licensures, and Registrations: Appropriate professional certifications as required, i.e. ropes, aquatics, etc. CPR, Basic First Aid and AED within 60 days of employment. Other Requirements: Excellent human relation skills, good organizational and communication skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS, MENTAL EFFORT, AND WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical and mental effort demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Physical Demands: Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions of position. Program management staff must be able to remain in a stationary position for several hours at a time. Program management staff must be able to occasionally move about inside the office for meetings and to access files and office equipment. In addition, program management staff must be able to travel to and traverse within multiple YMCA Cape Cod locations, including occasionally ascending and descending stairs. Program management staff must frequently operate a computer and other office machinery. Program management staff must be able to communicate with other staff (including the executive team), members, vendors, and community partners and exchange accurate information, including budgetary and operational information. Mental Effort: Program management staff are responsible for operational planning, making significant business recommendations such as budgetary and staffing, and addressing issues that affect program operations as they arise. Program management staff may be required to work more than 40 hours per week to meet the needs of the program, which may cause fatigue and stress. Working Conditions: In general, program management staff work in an office setting. However, program management staff must also traverse to multiple locations across the YMCA Cape Cod as business needs arise as well as to meetings with Community Partners.

- Plans and implements lesson plans and/or program delivery assignments.
- In conjunction with director, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Assists with review and evaluation of staff performance.
- Develops strategies to motivate staff and interacts and engages with participants in a friendly, professional manner.
- Leads activities for assigned group of participants as necessary.
- Supervises the overall program area, ensuring the safety of the participants while maintaining a clean and safe environment, i.e. cleaning toys and/or equipment and ensuring area is free of clutter, debris, and hazardous conditions.
- Effectively communicates with parents and/or participants regarding scheduling and requirements of programs.
- Ensures that accurate attendance records are maintained if necessary.
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes reports as necessary.
