Job Summary

SCS is the primary designated mental health service on campus and functions as a comprehensive counseling center for a campus population of just over 20,000 students. The center prides itself on proactive efforts to enhance the mental health of individuals, groups, and the campus community as a whole, and has a longstanding reputation for innovation and excellence in the full range of counseling center functions.

Responsibilities for this position will include the following:

• Provide clinical services including: triage, individual, couples, and group counseling and case management.
• Work collaboratively with other offices on campus to develop and provide a network of supportive services for students.
• Develop and implement programming, programming, outreach, and liaison to the Multicultural Center and to its constituents, including individual students, registered student organizations, faculty and staff.
• Participate in other aspects of Student Counseling Services functions, including involvement in after-hours crisis assessment, intervention and management.
• Participate in other aspects of the Multicultural Center including training, staff meetings, and programs.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$5,833 - $6,667 monthly

Required Qualifications

• Master’s Degree or Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy
• Eligibility for licensure in Illinois within 12 months of hire date as a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
• Demonstrated commitment to one’s own ongoing professional development
• Experience and skill in helping clients work on all aspects of their identity.

Preferred Qualifications

• College/university counseling center experience.
• Licensed as a mental health provider.
• 2-4 years of experience in college student mental health.
• Experience working collaboratively with colleagues, campus departments, and student groups.
• Demonstrated commitment to actively engage in practice with the multicultural center’s diverse student populations.
• Development, implementation, and assessment of programs for student groups.

Work Hours

Generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with occasional weekend and evening hours as business needs dictate.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

• Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day‑to‑day work
• Effectively communicate on a daily basis
