Pharmacy TechnicianUnder the immediate supervision of the Pharmacist or Director of Pharmacy Services, is responsible for the preparation, dispensing, and recordkeeping processes of medications.Professionalism:Maintains certifications and continuing education requirementsParticipates in Hospital committeesUnderstand and contributes to the overall improvement in quality pharmaceutical carePractices professional interactions with patients, co-workers and vendorsClinical Competency:Understanding of billing and insurance processing for outpatient prescriptionsFill automated dispensing machine with required medicationsUnderstands computer systems and the integration between systemsAble to purchase medications through appropriate channelsQuality:Fills Automated Dispensing Units in a timely and accurate mannerAssures medications about to expire are removed and segregated from other inventoryPurchases products through wholesaler to assure contract compliance and 340b maximizationMaintains an appropriate level of inventoryAssists the pharmacist to assure quality carePatient Advocacy:Is attentive to processing of refill prescription requests and prior authorizationsUtilize appropriate resources for non-English speaking patients, hearing and sight impaired individuals, and/or healthcare illiteracyClearly communicates to the patient and family at an appropriate level of comprehensionOffers to provide a pharmacist resource for patient counseling and medication educationProvides timely processing of prescriptionsOrganizational Expectations:Attendance: Attendance is an essential job function; employee comes to work daily, on time, and completes scheduled shiftHIPAA: facilitates to maintain patient confidentialityInternal communication: contributes to positive team performance and a culture of service excellence through effective communication, active listening, and respectInterpersonal relationships: maintains appropriate interpersonal relationships with staff, patients, and visitors at all times.
