Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist - $5,000 Sign-On-Bonus

The Lead Medical Laboratory Scientist performs analysis of blood, urine, stool, and body fluids. They evaluate reports based on clinical and analytical conditions and maintain the quality of laboratory testing. They oversee policies, procedures, and specific testing within a larger department and identify at least three of the following additional duties: Lab Safety Officer, temperature monitoring system administrator, laboratory analyzer operator, non‑routine instrument maintenance, quality control oversight, test method validation, small equipment oversight, chargemaster maintenance, proficiency testing program, supply ordering, inventory oversight, Meditech superuser, staff training, etc. They also oversee one of the departments: Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, or Blood Bank; educate staff on changes; address errors; and serve as the department point person for issues, concerns, improvement ideas, and testing changes. Responsibilities Evaluate new and old testing procedures, write technical procedures, train and orient other technologists. Perform clerical functions such as writing reports, operating laboratory computer systems, maintaining files for procedures, and quality control. Work with management and lead technicians on supply inventory for the area of oversight. Assist with training and orienting other technologists. Employment Details Full time, Day Shift. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related discipline; registry or certification by a professional organization such as the ASCP or equivalent is required. Ability to read, speak and write English effectively. Related Experience Preferred: At least one year experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist I with above‑average performance; preferably one year as a MLS II. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills; excellent team player and mentor. Self‑motivated, takes initiative to complete work on time, and can balance multiple priorities. Accurate and detail oriented.
