Nutrition Education Specialist

The Center for African American Health is a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the Black community to make informed health decisions that benefit the whole person through education, collaboration, and advocacy.

Under the supervision of the Director of Program, the Nutrition Education Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering nutrition education programs to diverse audiences, teaching about healthy eating habits, food choices, and the relationship between diet and health.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

• Create nutrition education materials, lesson plans, and presentations based on current dietary guidelines and audience needs.
• Conduct group cooking classes to teach about nutrition principles, food labeling, meal planning, and dietary modifications.
• Promote nutrition education programs through presentations, and collaborations with community organizations.
• Coordinate and perform garden maintenance, organize educational opportunities for community.
• Manage program budget, maintain information for grant objectives and assist with reports and record keeping.
• Track program effectiveness by monitoring participant progress and evaluating outcomes to make necessary adjustments.
• Establish and maintain relationships with community members, stakeholders, and organizations.
• Works with sensitive information with discretion to maintain confidentiality and security and ensure compliance with privacy policies and regulations.
• Ensures that deadlines are met and adapts to changing priorities.
• Presents a positive and professional image for the organization.
