Qualifications: Master’s Degree General Description: Physical Therapists provide services to students with physical disabilities which will allow them to access the BPS curriculum and to participate safely in both school and community life to the greatest extent possible. Required Qualifications Master’s Degree (or advanced credential); Doctorate Degree (not equal to PhD) Massachusetts License in Physical Therapy Responsibilities Evaluation: Access students referred for evaluation using appropriate testing instruments. Write reports that reflect standardized test results and observations, with clear recommendations. Complete evaluations within timelines established in state and federal regulations. Physical Therapy Services: Provide therapy and consultation services based on individual needs and in compliance with each child’s IEP or 504 Plan. Provide services in the least restrictive setting. Participate in pre-referral, Team Meeting, Student Support Team activities and provide professional development to school-based staff as requested. Consult with other related services providers, teachers, and parents to provide effective services in various settings. General Responsibilities: Comply with state regulations concerning renewal of certifications and licenses. Develop, update, and adhere to both a daily and weekly schedule; provide copy to each principal. Comply with BPS rules, policies and procedures and those of assigned schools and Special Education and Student Services. Maintain records of prior planning or lessons and keep therapy notes for each child and therapy session; maintain accurate records of student attendance.
