Pain Management Physician

Pain Medicine Physiatrist OpportunityWest Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation are recruiting a Pain Medicine physiatrist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The candidate will practice in Wheeling, WV.Candidates should possess excellent clinical skills and a strong interest in education and research. Clinical and basic science research is encouraged and supported. Laboratory facilities are also available. All faculty are required to take an active role in our integrated residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Qualified candidates will have a special interest in the medical management of rehabilitation needs for neurologic, general rehabilitation patients, with procedural skills in spasticity management. Electrodiagnostic procedures are available.The successful candidate will practice in the area of physical medicine and rehabilitation and interventional spine and pain management. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed physical medicine and rehabilitation residency program and be board certified/eligible in physical medicine and rehabilitation. In addition, candidate must have completed one year of NASS-interventional spine and musculoskeletal fellowship, or ACGME pain medicine, or ACGME (interventional) Sports Medicine fellowship. Private practice fellowship is also acceptable. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.Candidate must be ACGME board eligible/certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and Pain Medicine or (interventional) Sports Medicine, or have a certificate of completion from a NASS-Interventional Spine and MSK program or other private interventional spine/pain fellowship program. The position will be primarily outpatient service. Opportunities for electrodiagnostic evaluations and ultrasound-guided procedures exist. Expanding outpatient opportunities also include spasticity management, prosthetics and TBI, along with a comprehensive neuroscience center to manage various neuromuscular and neurologic disorders.Wheeling, WV, offers the comforts of a small town with the amenities of a big city, all at a lower cost of living.
