ACOS MS PositionThe ACOS MS is responsible for oversight for planning, developing, coordinating, directing, and evaluating Medicine Service which largely consists of outpatient practices in five locations (Tomah, La Crosse, Wausau, Owen, and Wisconsin Rapids), Extended Care, Urgent Care, and a small Acute Medical Unit. Minimal specialty services are offered and include Neurology, Dermatology, Dental, Infectious Disease, Podiatry, Optometry and Audiology. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards.Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): AuthorizedPay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increasesPaid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VAInsurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territoryCME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage providedContract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlightingMedicine Service at the Tomah VAMC is the largest clinical service line at the Tomah VAMC with over 100 employees in five areas: Outpatient Primary Care, Acute Care (includes 10-bed Acute Medical Unit and an Urgent Care Clinic), Extended Care (Nursing Home, Hospice, Home Based Primary Care, Rehabilitation, and Palliative Care), Employee Health and Specialty Medicine. Each area has a Service Chief or Director who reports directly to the ACOS MS. The specialty areas of Dermatology, Infectious Disease, Podiatry, Dental, Neurology, Optometry and Audiology report directly to the ACOS MS. Surgery is not offered at the Tomah VAMC.The ACOS of MS position supervises the Deputy ACOS MS who is responsible for the administrative oversite and staff. The ACOS MS position will provide patient care approximately 20% of the time and administrative duties 80% of the time. This position reports directly to the Chief of Staff.The duties and responsibilities of the ACOS MS include but are not limited to the following:The ACOS MS provides administrative, clinical, and programmatic leadership for Medicine Service to ensure clinical excellence.The ACOS MS will plan initiatives and develop programs in collaboration with other services to ensure coordination and streamlining of services, and enhancement of cost-effective care provided to Veterans.The ACOS MS will participate in top level decisions and policy design with significant impact. A primary objective of the ACOS MS is to mentor and lead highly competent, satisfied staff dedicated to providing the highest quality care centered around Veteran needs and optimizing health and well-being.The ACOS MS is responsible for implementing evidence-based best practices and ensuring ongoing provider education and learning. The ACOS MS should possess the ability to promote innovation, be able to lead others and inspire organizational excellence.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1630.
