About DTMB: The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of the state agencies through a variety of services including Information Technology project delivery, maintenance and support. This position is with Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection, Michigan Security Operations Center (MiSOC). We are looking for a person who understands the value of public service and wants to help us meet the needs of our citizens. This person needs to be an excellent communicator, meaning you can effectively make oral and written reports, presentations and prepare clear and concise documentation. You need to be capable of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with clients and matrix support teams. We need someone who can resolve complex problems in a timely manner and seeks optimum solutions. About the position: The Security Analyst position works as a member of the Security Operations Team within the MiSOC. This position supports and maintains the security tools that enable the MiSOC to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of State of Michigan data.

Required Education and Experience

Education Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics. Experience No specific type or amount is required.

Alternate Education and Experience

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement. OR Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

Additional Requirements and Information

Certain positions may require certification in specific information technology programs. Michigan State Police Candidates selected for this position must complete the Michigan State Police background check. This extensive background check requires fingerprinting for state and federal criminal background records. The background check search will include, but is not limited to, arrests, criminal charges, criminal convictions, and any information regarding contact with a criminal justice agency.

SIGNING BONUS : This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.
