About the Position

Job Title: Cardiac Catheterization Lab RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiac Catheterization Lab Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7A-7P Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: Travel experience Description: Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Applies the nursing process in the pre/post area. Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures and equipment. Provides care for patients pre/post interventional cardiac procedures. Cares for patients with vascular closure devices including application, maintenance, and removal. Maintains and pulls arterial and/or venous sheaths. Operates ACT machine. Handles Angioseal and Vasoseal devices. Administers minimal sedation and follows safety guidelines for moderate sedation. Assists with transesophageal echocardiogram (TEE) procedures. Performs the bubble method as required during TEE. Manages pain and conducts follow-up pain reassessment. Conducts blood draws and adheres to appropriate order-of-the-draw for labs. Administers IV therapy and blood product infusions. Manages information efficiently. Performs synchronized cardioversion and ICD procedures. Cares for patients pre/post recovery. In the procedural area, responsible for the assessment and reassessment of patients. Demonstrates competency with specialized equipment and procedures. Provides care for patients undergoing interventional cardiac, electrophysiology, and interventional radiology procedures. Assists with vascular procedures including IVC filters, run-offs, and occlusions. Maintains and pulls arterial and/or venous sheaths as needed. Operates the ACT machine proficiently. Assists with peripheral balloons and stents. Handles thermodilution and invasive monitoring tasks. Assists with IVUS procedures and interventional radiology tasks. Assists during FFR procedures, electrophysiology procedures, RF ablations, and cryoablations. Assists with the insertion, maintenance, and troubleshooting of intra-aortic balloon pumps. Helps with loop recorder insertions and both temporary and permanent pacemakers. Handles synchronized cardioversion and defibrillation. Monitors for anaphylactic reactions and manages the use of anaphylactic kits.
