Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Pupil Services. Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services and consultation to students; performs related duties as required or assigned.


Essential Functions

• Assess students using appropriate evaluation tools including standardized tests, clinical observations, and review of medical and educational reports to determine need for OT services within the educational setting.
• Develop and implement individual intervention plans (IEPs, 504) to support students' academic performance and engagement in school activities.
• Coordinate the delivery of direct and consultative occupational therapy services with classroom teachers, regular/special education staff and other providers to ensure continuity and consistency in providing comprehensive regular/special education services to students.
• Adapt classroom materials and environments to encourage student engagement, active participation, and success.
• Participate in interprofessional collaboration with teachers, parents, and other support staff to integrate strategies into the classroom for student success.
• Consult and collaborate with team and other community providers, as appropriate.
• Document evaluations, interventions, student process, and other required reports in compliance with district and state timelines and regulations.
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
• Participate in annual Kindergarten screenings and transition meetings, as needed.
• Provide training to school staff on strategies to support students' needs.
• Provide Extended School Year (ESY) services, as needed.
• Supervision of other OTPs (OTR/COTA), as needed.
• Supervision of Level I and Level II Occupational Therapy Students, as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Performs in accordance with school policy, administrative regulations, state and federal laws.

Education

Master's or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.


Work Experience

3-5 years experience as an OT with children, preferability in a school or pediatric setting.

Licenses/Certifications

• Valid Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy License or eligibility for PA license
• NBCOT Certificate
• Valid Driver's License

Travel Requirements

May be necessary depending on assignment.

Recurring analytical demands. Analysis involves gathering and interpreting data to resolve problems of moderate complexity (e.g., diagnosing equipment malfunctions to determine probable cause for breakdown and/or most appropriate means of correction).
