Survey Party Chief

We are seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to lead field survey operations and ensure the accurate collection of data for a variety of land surveying projects. This individual will oversee survey crews, operate advanced surveying equipment, and work closely with office staff to deliver high-quality results on schedule. The ideal candidate is safety conscious, detail oriented, and capable of leading projects in the field with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage field survey crews on boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and as-built surveys.
• Operate GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors to gather accurate field data.
• Coordinate daily assignments and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.
• Maintain field notes and documentation necessary for processing survey data.
• Communicate with project managers, clients, contractors, and office personnel regarding project progress and field conditions.
• Perform construction layout and staking for various site development and infrastructure projects.
• Ensure equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
• Uphold safety procedures and quality standards while mentoring junior field personnel.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a Survey Party Chief or similar field leadership role.
• Proficiency with GPS, robotic total stations, and electronic data collectors.
• Experience with boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and construction staking surveys.
• Ability to read and interpret plats, plans, and legal descriptions.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• CST certification or surveying coursework is a plus.
• Ability to work outdoors and travel to project sites as needed.
