Veterinary Technician – Part Time – Thrive Pet Healthcare Wedgewood – Nashville, TN About You You’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by helping provide hands on care and support for our patients, clients, doctors, and hospital team. Your work will include assisting with appointments, treatments, diagnostics, patient handling, laboratory testing, admitting and discharging patients, and helping maintain strong patient flow throughout the day. The success of your patients’ care matters to you, and your success matters to us. Your Experience & Skills Veterinary technician license preferred, but not required 1 year of recent veterinary or animal care experience preferred Experience with safe restraint, outpatient treatments, laboratory testing, radiographs, medication preparation, surgery support, and client communication is a plus An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary technology program is preferred, but not required Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with doctors, teammates, clients, dogs, and cats Dependable, flexible, positive, and willing to learn You’re Willing And Able To Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maintain positive patient flow Obtain patient histories, update medical charts, and maintain accurate medical records Safely restrain dogs and cats for exams, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures Assist with blood draws, laboratory testing, radiographs, medication preparation, and outpatient treatments based on skill level and hospital needs Assist with surgery, dentistry, anesthesia monitoring, and patient recovery when trained and appropriate Communicate with clients about pet health concerns, medications, prevention, follow up care, and Thrive Membership options Maintain clean, sterile, and organized treatment areas, exam rooms, surgery areas, and laboratory spaces Support fellow team members and contribute to a positive hospital culture Be available for part time scheduling needs, including rotating Saturdays as needed You’ll Grow with Us ThriveU, our vast, diverse, and free library of continuing education courses Live, virtual interactive workshops to develop valuable leadership skills Programs designed to teach you the fundamentals of running a pet hospital Opportunities to grow within general practice, specialty, emergency, leadership, or other hospital environments across the Thrive network Benefits Competitive pay 401(k) with employer match Mental health resources, including easy access to therapy through Lyra Health Free CE courses Pet perks and veterinary service discounts Student loan support tools and assistance Some benefits shown are only for full time team members who work 30 hours or more per week. Compensation Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience, with an hourly pay rate starting at $18 to $22 per hour.
