Sourcing Manager

Job Title: Strategic Sourcing Manager / Procurement ManagerJob Description

This role leads strategic sourcing and procurement activities to optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance for a growing chemical manufacturing organization. You will develop and execute sourcing strategies, manage key supplier relationships, drive cost reduction initiatives, and ensure alignment with corporate procurement standards and financial guidelines across multiple facilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies that optimize cost, quality, and supplier performance while maintaining compliance with procurement policies and financial guidelines.

• Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing agreements, and commercial terms to secure favorable conditions and long-term value.

• Plan and execute supplier sourcing events, competitive bidding processes, and risk management initiatives to strengthen the supply base.

• Build, maintain, and deepen strategic supplier relationships, managing contractual obligations and monitoring supplier performance.

• Maintain and improve procurement reporting tools, supplier databases, and related systems to support accurate, timely decision-making.

• Review and manage approved supplier records in accordance with company risk management policies and compliance requirements.

• Track, report, and continuously improve procurement KPIs, cost reduction initiatives, and savings programs.

• Support manufacturing and operational leadership by participating in site meetings and contributing to strategic planning activities.

• Ensure supplier compliance with corporate standards, procurement policies, and agreed contractual terms.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to standardize products, services, and sourcing practices across multiple facilities.

• Prepare regular reports on savings initiatives, supplier performance, market conditions, and key procurement metrics.

• Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability within the procurement function to drive best practices and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in strategic sourcing and procurement, preferably within manufacturing or industrial environments.

• Strong supplier negotiation and contract management skills, including experience with pricing agreements and commercial terms.

• Demonstrated ability to manage supplier performance and vendor relationships effectively.

• Knowledge of risk management principles and sourcing best practices.

• Experience in manufacturing or industrial procurement (preferred).

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage reporting, KPIs, and cost reduction initiatives.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage and influence stakeholders across functions and locations.

• Proficiency with purchasing systems, supplier databases, and procurement reporting tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in vendor management and supplier relationship management.

• Background in supply chain, purchasing, or procurement within a manufacturing setting.

• Ability to lead, coach, and provide accountability within a procurement or sourcing team.

• Strong business acumen and understanding of market conditions impacting sourcing decisions.

• Comfort working in a rapidly growing organization with evolving processes and structures.

• Interest in long-term career growth, including potential to take on broader North American sourcing responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position is based on-site in a chemical manufacturing environment, working standard daytime hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will collaborate closely with manufacturing and operational leadership and engage regularly with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders. The role involves working with purchasing systems, supplier databases, and procurement reporting tools in an office setting within a production facility. The organization offers significant room for growth, including the potential for long-term placement and future responsibility for sourcing across North America.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Hartford, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $52.88/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
