Universal Banker

Job Purpose The position provides excellent service to customers in accordance with Peoples Bank policies. The teller will open deposit accounts, handle CSR transactions, sell and cross‑sell bank products and services, generate and execute consumer loans, and resolve customer service issues. This position engages in sales and service activities in branch locations and contributes directly to the success of the banking center by recognizing and uncovering opportunities to make sales referrals on products and services. Job Duties Deliver superior customer service with a friendly demeanor, can‑do attitude, and willingness to help at all times. Develop and retain the customer base, greet by name, be responsive and timely with correspondence and problem resolution. Maintain a position of trust and responsibility by keeping all customer business confidential. Maintain balancing and error records in line with policy and correct outages with assistance when required. Process complex multi‑step transactions. Research and offer solutions to resolve customer issues, providing follow‑up on resolutions. Receive checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verify deposit amounts, and examine checks for endorsement and negotiability. Aquire, use, and maintain consumer lending product knowledge to generate and execute consumer loans, lines and deposit products. Perform well in a sales environment and interact professionally with customers and team members. Transform service encounters into dialogue based meetings to uncover additional customer needs. Consistently meet or exceed sales referral goals as set by management, maintaining a well‑developed knowledge of the complete product line. Initiate conversations to uncover customer needs and effectively refer to business partners for selling and cross‑selling bank products and services. Complete required training for all bank and branch policies and procedures. Interpret documents such as safety rules, account documents, operating and maintenance instructions, consumer loan documents and procedure manuals; speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Define and offer solutions to resolve problems using organizational resources. Follow operational standards regarding security, risk management, and compliance. Make sales calls via phone or Zoom to clients and/or prospects weekly, recording calls in Salesforce. Interpret data to evaluate acceptable lending ratios and product and service opportunities. Meet scheduled working hours as designated by manager to ensure branch functionality. Adhere to Retail Branch Standards, including dress code. Perform special projects as assigned. Education, Experience and Job Skills High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 1‑year work‑related experience in customer service. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail. Proficient in basic computer operations and standard applications; quickly learn and navigate job‑specific software. Proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Positive and professional attitude. Proven team player. Daily reliable transportation. Role requires consistent standing; bending or squatting may be required to access night drops, coin machines, vaults, ATM, etc., based on branch setup. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. consistently. Ability to travel for internal education and meetings; may include overnight stays; travel required to fill in at other branches as needed. Must pass background and credit standards to hold NMLS credentials. Trustworthy and confidential behavior is essential. Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 1‑year work‑related experience in customer service. Daily reliable transportation. Role requires consistent standing; bending or squatting may be required to access night drops, coin machines, vaults, ATM, etc., based on branch setup. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. consistently. Travel to attend internal education and meetings; overnight stays may be required; travel to fill in at other branches as needed. Benefits 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
