Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Nursing Department at Boston Medical Center

Registered Nurses for the Post-Partum Unit and Newborn Nursery provide couplet care to patients that have recently delivered in our Labor & Delivery unit. As a Magnet recognized organization these nurses provide care to the whole family ensuring the first few days of care have set the family up for success.

Position Summary

As an RN in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Job Responsibilities

Deliver nursing care in the Maternal Child Health/Mother Baby Department including assessing diagnosing planning intervening evaluating and educating patients. Communicate with various health care team members patients and their families. Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues. Update and manage patient records. Enter and interpret computerized data/information. Follow guidelines and policies established by BMCs nursing organization. Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects.

Job Requirements

Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or the ability to obtain MA RN licensure prior to your start date. 1+ years of Mother Baby/Postpartum experience required. Certification in basic life support (BLS). Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units. Nursing degree: Diploma ASN or BSN (preferred). Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years. Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification required for certain practice areas. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Physical ability to meet job responsibilities. Basic computer proficiency. Fluency in another language a plus.
