Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Estates Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys in managing all aspects of estate planning, administration, and litigation. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of estate planning documents, probate procedures, and fiduciary duties.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the administration of estates, including filing probate documents, preparing accountings, and managing beneficiary distributions.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, beneficiaries, and financial institutions to gather information and provide updates on case status.
  • Conduct legal research on estate planning, tax laws, and probate court rules.
  • Organize and manage case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
  • Prepare and file petitions, motions, and other legal documents with the court.
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings, consultations, and hearings.
  • Assist in managing estate and trust accounts, including tracking assets and liabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations related to estate planning and probate matters.
  • Provide general administrative support, including answering phones, managing calendars, and correspondence.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of trust and estate law, probate processes, and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Meticulous in document preparation and file management.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and tasks simultaneously, prioritizing effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional and empathetic in client interactions, maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
  • Proficient in legal research tools, document management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Collaborative with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree or Paralegal Certificate required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, with a focus on trust and estate planning and administration.
  • Paralegal certification from an accredited organization (e.g., NALA, NFPA) preferred.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with changes in trust and estate law.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in using office equipment, such as computers, scanners, and copiers.
  • Occasionally lift and carry files or boxes weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents, spreadsheets, and computer screens.
  • Minimal travel may be required for court appearances or client meetings.
Pay: $50.00 per hour

Education:
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Experience:
  • Paralegal: 1 year (Preferred)
  • estate planning: 1 year (Preferred)
License/Certification:
  • Paralegal Certificate (Preferred)
Ability to Commute:
  • Odessa, DE 19730 (Preferred)
