Improvement Practitioner

The Improvement Practitioner is a key resource in driving performance improvement using lean principles. Serves as a resource and change agent and is responsible for using associated tools and project management methods to help the organization reach its goals. Interfaces with entity leaders, managers and front line-staff and is responsible for coaching the application of lean methodology/key results and other tool-based methods.

Experience

1. Three years of progressively responsible work related to Lean principles or OKR and change management.
2. Project leadership experience in clinical or non-clinal care areas, operations, or quality.
3. Demonstrated competencies with project management methodology, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle (concept through sustainment).
4. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Education

Bachelor's Degree preferred; 5 years prior (healthcare) process improvement experience or specialty certification may be considered in lieu of a degree. Must have evidence of prior use of lean methodology.

Licenses/Certifications

1. Project Management Certification within 15 months of hire
2. Completes OKR Practitioner course within 3 months of hire.

Essential Functions

1. Deploy problem-solving tools, techniques, and activities required to achieve and sustain organizational initiatives/goals.
2. In collaboration with leadership partner, charters initiatives/projects with timelines, measures of success (key results/outcomes), stakeholder analysis and defined impact to the organization.
3. Coaches team through implementation of tiered huddles, daily management for improvement and performance board sustainment activities.
4. Support department leadership in gap assessments and corresponding initiatives.
5. Provides regular updates to internal leadership team and other stakeholders.
6. Motivates individuals at an entity level to create process improvement experts that support a continuous improvement and problem-solving culture.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Knowledge of lean methodology and tool-based improvement methods including huddles, daily management, and performance through an outcome mindset.
2. Ability to communicate effectively in situations requiring instruction, conflict resolution, and coaching. This includes both oral and written communication.
3. Able to view projects and initiatives through a system lens.
4. Ability to make decisions at the project level and escalate concerns that cannot be resolved.
5. Demonstrated sustainment of improvement activities.
