Access Control Technician

We are looking for an access control technician who has a passion for the customer and life safety. The perfect candidate has experience in access controls and can successfully perform inspection, installation, testing, service and repairs of access control systems to ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, manufacture requirements, federal and local ordinances, customer expectations, and the expectations and requirements of the company. This is a fast paced and demanding role with high visibility within the company. This role reports to the service manager.

What you will be doing includes performing installation, service, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair activities on access control boards, card-swipe equipment, alarm devices, door alarms, locks, video surveillance systems, access control systems, intrusion alarm systems, and network infrastructure. You will also read blueprints, programming documentation, and wiring diagrams, terminate and understand composite cable, cat5e, cat6, cat6a cabling, and fiber optics cabling, troubleshoot, debug, and resolve low voltage electrical, cable, computer hardware, and software problems, basic programming of Access Control Systems, including intrusion alarm equipment, CCTV equipment, Access control equipment, and life safety equipment, complete cable installation, device terminations including Strikes, Card readers, Maglocks, Motion Detectors, etc., record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations either electronically or manually, maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform job, evaluate customer site for additional equipment and services that customer may require, work in compliance with the Company's safety program, perform on-site and/or off-site (phone) emergency troubleshooting of Access Control and CCTV systems, discuss deficiencies noted with customer, explaining the problem and its resolution, and be comfortable with heights, working on ladders or lifts, or in confined spaces.

Qualifications include 3+ years previous low voltage experience as security installer in video, intrusion, and access control, experience with Honeywell Winpak, ProWatch and Identiv (Access Control), Hanwha, Bosch and Milestone (CCTV) are a plus, demonstrated ability to install access control hardware and program access control panels, working knowledge of security technology, tools, and installation techniques, strong troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and solve problems effectively, ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals and percentages, knowledge and ability to understand and operate basic computer functions, operating systems and software applications such as Windows, Word, Apple IOS, Android and Outlook, and a valid U.S. driver's license.

Ideal qualities include 5+ years previous low voltage experience as security installer in video, intrusion, and access control, acute attention to detail, strong mechanical and technical aptitude, highly organized and detail-oriented, problem-solving skills, and excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Working conditions and physical requirements include overtime may be required, exposure to all kinds of work environments, occasionally asked to travel overnight to a customer location, ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, frequent lifting and carrying of toolboxes, equipment, parts, tools, equipment, cabling, and/or wiring, frequent ladder climbing and checking, pulling wire, etc, walking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, and raising hands overhead, driving is required and the amount of time driving may vary, and required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for this position in accordance with safety standards.
