On-Call status: requires a 30-minute response time. 1 year of experience required. Job Summary Under the direction of a radiologist, this Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasonic diagnostic/therapeutic procedures, requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Assumes responsibility for tasks or procedures as assigned and performs data entry operations using appropriate hospital software. Staff member may be required to provide coverage at various locations within the network. Key Responsibilities Perform ultrasound techniques and examinations, including abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts, selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs and observing patient during procedure to ensure safety and comfort. Transport patient to and from exam room/table, prepare and maintain room. Acquire digital images and evaluate for technical quality. Assist physician in diagnostic procedures and with administering medications. Assist in coordinating daily workflow for department activities. Maintain equipment in efficient operating order, perform and document required quality control testing, and contact service for repair and maintenance. Rotate throughout department as staffing and volume dictates. Participate in orientation, training, and in-servicing of staff as needed. Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe environment for patients and staff in assigned area. Maintain stock and inventory as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. A certificate from an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program is preferred. Minimum 6 months clinical ultrasound experience required; 1 year of experience required for ARRT. Experience of 1 year with ARRT preferred. Licenses & Certifications Sonography Principles & Instrumentation – Certificate (ARDMS) eligible, includes passing SPI exam or ARRT Sonography certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) – Current and valid certification at time of hire. ARRT – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. If ARRT held when hired, ARDMS SPI credentialed 180 days required. Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) – License or RVT credentialed. Includes passing one of the following exams: Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric Sonography, Vascular Technology; 1 year or 18 months required if hired with ARRT.
