Teller

Overview As the first point of contact for most clients, Tellers deliver on the bank's Breakthrough Client Service Standards. Under guidance from the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager, the Teller's primary responsibility is to ensure banking transactions are performed accurately, ethically, and in compliance with Columbia Bank procedures and banking regulations. The Teller also maintains and enhances client relationships through conversations that uncover needs and identify opportunities to provide additional bank products and services. Tellers perform teller transactions and cash handling with accuracy and confidentiality, including deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, and balancing the cash drawer. They support daily tasks to maintain branch integrity, such as balancing the ATM with double custody, processing night drops, balancing negotiable instruments, processing returned mail, updating lobby rate sheets, and brochures. They mitigate risk by ensuring safekeeping of money and prompt accounting or transfer of funds. They interact with external and internal clients, anticipate needs, and provide proactive solutions and problem resolution in alignment with the bank's standards. They continuously deepen knowledge of Columbia Bank\'s products and services and stay current on changes. They discuss and uncover customers\' financial needs to identify and offer appropriate products and services and support branch referral goals by referring basic bank products to the appropriate business partner. Responsibilities Perform teller transactions with accuracy and confidentiality (deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, payments, transfers, check cashing, balancing cash drawer). Balance cash drawer and related financial instruments; process night drop deposits; balance negotiable instruments; handle returned mail; update lobby materials as needed. Mitigate risk through safekeeping of money and prompt accounting or transfer of funds. Interact with clients to anticipate needs and provide proactive solutions and problem resolution in line with standards. Support branch referral goals by identifying and referring basic bank products to the appropriate business partner. About You / Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. 1 year of banking or customer service experience preferred. Bilingual preferred. Ability to learn and comply with all bank policies, procedures, and systems. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with written numbers, words, and verbal and written instructions. Your ability and willingness to build relationships with clients and colleagues. Compensation and Benefits The pay range for this role is $18.00 to $20.00. The pay rate for the selected candidate depends on factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, and details will be provided during the recruitment process.
