School Health Aide

Health AideSupport the educational mission by enhancing and safeguarding the health of the school community. This role provides health services support and promotes health education under the supervision of the School Nurse. It requires a high level of responsibility, independence, and collaboration with the School Nurse, staff, and administration. Requirements include a high school graduate or equivalent, certification as a Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant, and the ability to assist students with special health needs. The position demands good customer service skills, a pleasant personality, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with administrators, staff, teachers, students, and the general public. Current CPR and BLS certifications are required. The position is non-exempt and reports to the Executive Director of Academic Services and a Registered Nurse.Responsibilities include administering medication, assisting students in feeding, bathrooming, and transferring, providing care as delegated by the RN, administering basic first aid, taking and recording vital statistics, notifying parents of injuries, and participating in in-service training programs. Other duties may be assigned by the Building Administrator and/or School Nurse.
