THE TYPE OF PRE-VOCATIONAL AIDE —WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Fairness, forethought, and good judgment
• Computer skills
• Understanding of general environmental and safety policies/procedures
• Understanding and ability to complete all required documentation
• Understanding of client confidentiality regulations and protocols (HIPAA/FERPA)
• Knowledge of policies and procedures for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect
• Ability and commitment to function as a healthy and therapeutic role model
• Ability to model and reinforce skills in the program and community while fostering independence
• Ability to assist students with personal care development and maintenance as appropriate
• Ability to understand and adhere to licensing regulations

As a Pre-Vocational Aide, you start by assisting students with personal care and guiding them through job-readiness activities both on and off campus. Whether you're offering support during a life skills session or transporting students to a vocational opportunity, you're always part of a collaborative, therapeutic team that uplifts and encourages. You track progress, assist with coaching, and engage in hands-on learning experiences that empower students to become more independent. Your responsibilities would include monitoring the students while they complete straightforward tasks such as collecting trash from the offices, helping clean up in the cafeteria, or vacuuming and sweeping the hallways. Through positive reinforcement and communication, you help create a safe, respectful, and growth-oriented environment.
